Find Out if Your Symptoms Are Due to a Hormonal Imbalance

  • Read carefully through the list of symptoms in each group, and put a check mark next to each symptom that you have. (If you check off the same symptom in more than one group, that's fine.)
  • Go back and count the check marks in each group. In any group where you have two or more symptoms checked off, there's a good chance that you have the hormone imbalance represented by that group.
  • The more symptoms you check off, the higher the likelihood that you have the hormone imbalance represented by that group. (Some people may have more than one type of hormonal imbalance.)

    Infertility

(If you have checked four or more boxes in this group, see answer below)

ANSWER:Likely Progesterone deficiency: this is the most common hormone imbalance among women of all ages. You may need to change your diet, stop using synthetic hormones (including birth control pills), and you may need to use herbal remedies as directed along with essential oils such as Clary sage.

There are some essential oils that have oestrogen-enhancing properties that, along with dietary changes and herbal support, may be beneficial

    SYMPTOM GROUP 3

    Group 2 Symptoms Plus these:

    breast tenderness
    Insomnia
"cotton wool" brain or Foggy thinking

ANSWER: Possible excess oestrogen: In women, this is most often solved by getting off of the conventional synthetic hormones most often prescribed by doctors for menopausal women. Oestrogen is also found in milk and meats. Oestrogen "analogues" or xeno-oestrogens are found in plastic, and chemicals commonly found in cosmetic & body care products and packaging.

You need to implement some strategies to help reduce your excessive oestrogen - these may include herbs, dietary advice, liver support and essential oil applications.

    SYMPTOM GROUP 4

A combination of the symptoms in #1 and #3

(add together those checked in Group 1 & Group3):

(If you have checked ten or more boxes in groups #1 and #3 see answer below.)

ANSWER: Oestrogen dominance: This is caused when you don't have enough progesterone to balance the effects of oestrogen. Thus, you can have low oestrogen but if you have even lower progesterone, you can have symptoms of oestrogen dominance. Many women between the ages of 40 and 50 suffer from oestrogen dominance. You may benefit from remove any extra sources of oestrogen (hormonal, plant or chemical) in your life: milk, soy, plastics, body care chemicals and meats. Some women may benefit from increasing the amounts of plant-oestrogens (phyto-oestrogen) to "outcompete" your own, more potent, hormone.

    SYMPTOM GROUP 5

    Acne
    Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
Excessive hair on the face and arms
    Hypoglycemia and/or unstable blood sugar
    Thinning hair on the head
    Infertility
    Ovarian cysts
    Mid-cycle pain

(If you have checked four or more boxes in this group, see answer below.)
ANSWER: Possible excess androgens (male hormones): This is most often caused by too much sugar and simple carbohydrates in the diet and is often found in women who have polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

You need to be checked for thyroid function and toxicity status. You must treat your diet like a diabetic as PCOS is closely related. Get comprehensive blood tests to monitor critical functions. It is much easier to correct imbalances before they become serious.

Supplemental Rice Protein can have a profound influence on stabilizing blood sugar.

Chromium, lipoic acid and dietary fibre are also effective at regulating blood sugar levels.  A nutritional consultation will establish the right combination of nutrients to rebalance your system.

Allergies, food allergies, low immune function
    Slow recovery from illness

(If you have checked eight or more boxes in this group, see answer below.)

ANSWER: Possible cortisol deficiency This is caused by tired adrenal glands (they sit on top of your kidneys). This is commonly caused by chronic stress. If you're trying to juggle a job and a family, chances are good you have tired adrenals. You may also need to get an ACTH blood test. If you have a serious cortisol deficiency it can be life threatening. Herbal and nutritional support is crucial to help stablise your adrenal glands.
